The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio announced on April 2 that it is holding its first district-wide Civics Contest, inviting high school students in grades 9 through 12 to participate.

The contest aims to engage students in learning about the significance of the Declaration of Independence and how it relates to the judiciary. Organizers encourage participants from across the Northern District of Ohio to submit an original poster along with a description not exceeding 250 words.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three applicants from each region within the district, which includes Akron, Cleveland, Toledo, and Youngstown. The court said that this initiative is designed to foster civic awareness and understanding among local youth.

Students interested in entering must submit their work by April 30, 2026. Detailed rules and entry information are available through official channels.

By offering this opportunity, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio seeks to promote civic education and highlight important historical documents within its community.
