Two citizens of Guatemala and one citizen of Honduras have been sentenced for illegally re-entering the United States after being previously deported, according to a March 17 announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. The cases are unrelated and each defendant had pleaded guilty to Illegal Entry of a Removed Alien under Title 8 U.S. Code 1326.

The sentencing took place in Toledo, Ohio. Nixion Lopez-Peralta, age 28 and a citizen of Honduras, received a sentence of time served. Wilson Lux-Solis, also known as Jose Roberto Lemus-Solis, age 25 and a citizen of Guatemala, was sentenced to six months in prison. Manuel Lux-Tum, age 51 and also from Guatemala, was sentenced to time served.

After serving their sentences, all three individuals will be subject to detainers from United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and will be taken into administrative immigration custody for removal from the country.

The investigations were conducted by the U.S. Border Patrol-Sandusky Bay Station. Assistant United States Attorneys Frank Spryszak and Matt Simko prosecuted these cases on behalf of the Northern District of Ohio.

According to the press release, these prosecutions are part of Operation Take Back America, described as a nationwide initiative that uses Department of Justice resources “to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and to protect communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.”
