A former employee has taken legal action against a global data and legal services company, alleging employment discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, and interference with her rights under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). On December 5, 2025, Jennifer Manring filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas in Delaware County, Ohio against UnitedLex Professional Services, L.L.C., accusing them of multiple violations related to her employment.
The case centers around Manring’s allegations that during her tenure as a Staff Attorney with UnitedLex from December 2017 until August 2022, she faced discrimination due to her disabilities. She claims that despite being qualified under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other relevant laws, the company failed to provide reasonable accommodations necessary for her medical conditions. Manring suffers from several chronic health issues which require frequent medical appointments and treatments. In May 2021, an agreement was reached allowing her to work a flexible schedule due to these conditions. However, she alleges that starting November 2021, UnitedLex began violating this agreement by not providing essential work equipment like a functioning company laptop, which hindered her ability to maintain her flexible schedule.
Manring further accuses UnitedLex of retaliatory behavior after she took medical leave in April 2022 for surgery and recovery. She asserts that the company did not provide timely information required for filing FMLA leave or short-term disability benefits. This lack of support allegedly contributed to low work hours cited by UnitedLex as the reason for her termination. Manring contends that these actions were discriminatory and retaliatory since they directly affected her ability to meet work expectations.
In addition to these claims, Manring states that after returning from medical leave in June 2022, she was transferred to projects with restricted hours without justification. Despite having extensive experience and qualifications for more advanced tasks available on other projects, she was denied opportunities afforded to other staff attorneys who were allowed more flexible working conditions.
Manring is seeking compensatory damages exceeding $25,000 along with punitive damages for emotional distress caused by what she describes as discriminatory practices by UnitedLex. Her lawsuit demands acknowledgment of violations under ADA, Ohio Revised Code Section 4112 regarding fair employment practices; FMLA concerning family medical leave rights; and ERISA relating to employee retirement income security.
Representing herself pro se in this matter is Jennifer Manring while no specific attorneys or law firms are mentioned representing UnitedLex Professional Services at this stage. The case is identified under Case No.: 2:25-cv-01412-EAS-CMV with Judge Marianne T Hemmeter presiding over proceedings.
