An Akron man has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for drug trafficking and weapons offenses. Antoine D. Cook, 46, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Donald C. Nugent after a jury found him guilty in June of multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as being a felon in possession of ammunition.

Cook’s prior convictions include domestic violence (1996, 2010, 2012, and 2014), distribution of a controlled substance (2002), aggravated assault (2012 and 2015), and felonious assault (2018). These previous offenses contributed to his designation as a career offender and armed career criminal, leading to an enhanced sentence.

Court documents show that on May 1, 2024, Cook was found with about 25 grams of methamphetamine and three grams of cocaine, both packaged for sale. He also possessed more than 80 rounds of ammunition despite his status as a convicted felon.

After serving his prison term, Cook will be subject to eight years of supervised release.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) led the investigation with help from the Ohio Adult Parole Authority. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Peter E. Daly for the Northern District of Ohio.
